Little Diamond Cottage F162
Diamond
Lake, near Parry Sound, Ontario.
Hidden away, a short distance from the Seguin Trail, easily accessed by paved roads and only one kilometer from the small community of Orrville with its handy general store, Little Diamond Cottage sparkles with sunshine and is the picture of relaxation.
The cottage has potable well water, a forced air propane furnace, and is accessed from a level driveway. A few steps lead up to a new deck that extends along two sides of the building and a door leads from here into the kitchen and the main level of the cottage.
The cheerful, well-equipped kitchen, with its table for six, opens to a living area with view of the lake, ceiling fan, and a lovely upright piano. Here, there is seating for six on comfortable furniture. Large patio doors open to the deck and provide a fabulous view over pretty Diamond Lake. One bedroom containing a double bed is found on this level, along with a four-piece bathroom. A ceiling fan in the bedroom will add to your comfort on warm summer nights.
Steps lead from the main level to the lower level with, again, a patio door that opens to the level yard facing the lake. A small sitting area on this lower level holds a pull-out couch and a six-person table that provides a second option of eating area or may be used for game-playing. There are two additional bedrooms, each containing a double bed and with small windows, one facing the lake, the other facing the yard.
Relax outside on the well-built deck, with its propane barbeque and patio furniture, while enjoying the views of the water and the cooling breeze. The deck faces south-west, providing sun throughout the day. If shade is preferred, an umbrella at the table makes a shady option.
A level yard leads down a very gentle, grassy slope to the lake. Here there is a sandy beach that the children will enjoy, and a shallow entry into the water with its firm, sandy bottom. The beach faces west and lends itself to wonderful sunset views. A table and umbrella in the beach area will add to your comfort, and a fire pit near the water will complete the experience once darkness comes.
One square-back canoe/rowboat and one canoe are provided for exploring the quiet lake. With only about ten cottages on the lake, there is little boat traffic. There are wild areas to investigate, a good chance of seeing wildlife and an opportunity to do some fishing.
Little Diamond Cottage is about twenty minutes from Parry Sound, with its grocery stores, quaint shops and restaurants, the West Parry Sound District Museum, the Bobby Orr Hall of Fame, golf courses, and the nearby Sequin Trail. Both the Festival of the Sound, toward the end of July, and the Stockey Center provide an option of live entertainment. For an extra special excursion, the Island Queen Cruises explore the many islands of Georgian Bay.
Whether it is relaxation or entertainment that you are seeking, you won’t be disappointed!
