Lack Pack Cottage F163
Loon Lake, Kearney, Ontario.
Nestled among the cedars and white birches at the end of a quiet bay on lovely Loon Lake, Lack Pack is a delightful, bright, three-bedroom cottage. Everything is here to ensure a wonderful family vacation - from the sandy beach and shallow lake entry, to the foos-ball and air hockey table, dishwasher, washer and dryer, and cozy propane fireplace.
A few steps lead up from the side yard to a small deck with barbeque that extends off the kitchen area of the cottage. Here a door leads into the spacious, bright and open kitchen/dining area. The kitchen is fully equipped with a new refrigerator and stove, a dishwasher, small microwave, coffee maker, toaster oven, and toaster. The dining table seats six comfortably, with an additional small table available to add if there is another member of the group. Wonderful, relaxing meals can be shared here, while overlooking the living area below and out the expanse of windows to the lake.
Two bedrooms and a bathroom are located on the same level as the kitchen/dining room. One room has a queen bed, while the second holds a bunk with double bed below. The three-piece bathroom on this level is equipped with a bathtub.
Four steps lead down to the bright living area with its comfortable seating, ceiling fan, and large windows. Satellite television, a DVD player and VCR, with movies provided, will be welcome on any inclement days. The master bedroom with its queen-sized bed, and view of the lake is on the same level as the living area.
A lower level to the cottage completes the picture in offering a second sitting/recreation area. Try your hand at the air hockey and foos-ball games here, or relax in front of the propane stove while playing one of the many board games that are provided. A spacious, three-piece bathroom with shower is located on this level, along with a washer and dryer.
From the main living area, a patio door leads out to a second, larger deck that faces the water. Patio chairs, a small table and umbrella provide a setting that will soon become a favourite gathering spot.
Four steps lead down from the deck to the level yard that faces the lake. A picnic table and a bench near the water give an option of places to be at one with nature. The entrance to the lake is shallow and sandy, with sand on shore for the children of the group. A dock provides a mooring area for boats, and the cottage is equipped with two kayaks, a canoe and a paddleboat. Take a boat out to explore the peninsula beyond the cottage or try your hand at fishing for lake trout or bass. For the more adventurous, a narrow area leads from Loon Lake to neighbouring Grass Lake.
The Rain Lake and Tim River canoe route entrances to Algonquin Provincial Park are located not far from Lack Pack Cottage. Shopping, dining, hospital and entertainment can be found in the town of Huntsville - about 40 minutes drive. Somewhat closer, the smaller town of Burks Falls has groceries, and a small museum.
You won’t want to leave at the end of your vacationer, and we expect you’ll be back again!
