Morningview Cottage F179
Trout Spawn Lake, near Dorset, Ontario

Nestled on the shore of peaceful Trout Spawn Lake in northern Haliburton, Morning View Cottage is a place to get away from it all and relax.  This will be a holiday that gives opportunities for wildlife viewing, family time, quiet paddling and fishing.   The level lot gives easy access to the lake and a dock for swimming, sunning, and sunrise views.

Morning View is a three-bedroom, two-bathroom cottage all on one level.  There is a lovely stone wood-burning fireplace, good lake views and a large deck that extends across the front of the cottage.  The kitchen opens into the living and dining areas, so that the cooks can be part of whatever is going on.  Large windows give a view from the living area out to the front yard and the lake.  Comfortable seating is provided in the living area, and there is a small table set up around the corner for board games during any inclement weather.  A dining table just off the kitchen extends to seat eight people comfortably, and there is a full-size fridge, stove, and a small microwave.

The walls of the bedrooms do not extend up to the ceiling.  A ceiling fan then allows the air to circulate throughout the cottage.  The master bedroom has extra floor space if needed, and has a double bed.  Two other bedrooms hold bunk beds in each.  Each of these bunks has double bed below and above.  There is a bathroom at either end of the cottage.  One is a two-piece and the other is a three-piece with a shower.

The level lot gives the opportunity for outdoor games, including horseshoes at the pit that is shared with the nearby neighbouring cottage.  A canoe and paddleboat are provided for exploring the lake.  True to its name, there is the opportunity to catch trout in the deeper parts of the lake. A fire pit is located near the waterfront.

A 30-foot dock extends out from shore and has a ladder at the end to assist with getting in and out of the water.  It is possible to walk in from shore, however here there is a certain amount of vegetation growing from the lake bottom.   The depth is about six feet at the end of the dock, so is deep enough to jump in.  Diving is not recommended, as there may be some rocks below.  Five minute's drive from the cottage there is a large, public sandy beach where the water is quite shallow and the bottom is firm.  The road runs right beside this beach, so it is important to watch small children carefully.  The beach can also be reached by boating across Trout Spawn Lake.

There is an Algonquin canoe access point through Livingston Lake about fifteen minutes from the cottage.

A forty minute drive will bring you to the village of Dorset.  Here, Robinson’s General store has all needed supplies.  There is also a post office, liquor store, restaurants, and the requisite ice cream cones and bakery.  Marinas in Dorset provide access to Lake of Bays with its extensive motor boating.  The Dorset Fire Tower is a famous landmark that provides wonderful views from a height.

The towns of Huntsville or Bracebridge, each one hour's drive away, provide hospitals, shopping theatre, and restaurants.

Come and get away from the hustle and bustle!
