Location: Otter Lake, Dorset, Ontario

Located on quiet Otter Lake, Avalon Cottage offers a southern view through towering pines and hemlocks. A gentle sloping path leads to the water with its long dock and child-friendly lakefront. The entrance to the lake is sandy and shallow.

Three levels of decking on the cottage invite you to relax in the afternoon sun. Double sliding doors from the large eating/kitchen area, where eight to ten can be seated, take you out to the upper main level deck and to a large, flat grassy area.

Lots of windows in both the kitchen and the living room offer great views of not only the lake, but also of the squirrels and many varieties of birds. Two of the four bedrooms are located on this level. One has two single beds, and the other has a queen bed. The three-piece bathroom close by has a jet tub and twin basins.

Downstairs, more double sliding doors lead out to the lower deck. One of the two bedrooms on this level has a queen bed and a set of bunk beds The other curtained sleeping area has a single bed and a queen bed and the best view of the lake from its large windows. There is a three-piece bathroom with a shower on this lower level.

A public ramp for boat launching is very close to the cottage, and the quaint town of Dorset is just five minutes away. Visit famous Robinson's General Store, and the scenic lookout tower in Dorset. Explore world-renowned Algonquin Park, and browse antique shops in nearby Dorset, or enjoy shopping, dining and live theatre in Bracebridge or Huntsville, a short drive away. For the golfer, there is a course on Bigwin Island (the largest island on the lake) as well as many other courses in the area.

Comfort and space abound in this well-kept cottage, and the outdoors offer privacy and peacefulness. Avalon is the perfect family vacation spot!
