McVittie Island Cottage F100
McVittie Island, Lake Muskoka, Bracebridge, Ontario.

The guest book describes this cottage as a little piece of paradise with a million dollar view.  Kids say it's endless hours of fun and activity with a climber, Tarzan ropes, a shallow sandy bottom out to diving raft, and a sailing school on the island.  Cottage sleeps six to eight and bunkie sleeps two to four.  Suits two families sharing meals.

Lake Muskoka in all its beauty and history can be experienced in this McVittie Island Cottage. Set on the lakeside of the island with only a few others, this gem brings relaxation and nature to all who venture here. You will start your experience by rowing a very short distance across the river to your own boathouse where pull carts will carry your belongings to the cottage. A well-marked path leads you from the boathouse landing to your own piece of this island.  This island is a family oriented island, and as such guests are asked to respect quiet hours after 11 pm nightly.

A panoramic view awaits in the living/dining room where an expanse of windows line two of the walls. This open-concept area joins to the small working part of the kitchen and everyone is part of the conversation. A large table will invite evening games and activities with no television to distract.

The four bedrooms offer a variety in sleeping arrangements. The single beds, two in each of the three bedrooms, can be bunks or pushed together for king-size sleeping. The main bedroom has a queen bed and sliding doors looking out to the wooden deck and Lake Muskoka beyond.

The separate Bunkie provides additional sleeping and a quiet retreat from the bustle of the main cottage activities. There is a double bed here and a small loft with two single mattresses.

Enjoy watching the striped sails of the sailboats out of the South Muskoka Sailing School while you sip your coffee on the deck of the cottage. The children will love the climbers and play equipment outside. The dock is only steps away with traditional Muskoka chairs to relax in. A small ladder off the dock allows you to enter the water easily where it is shallow and the sand bottom makes for comfortable wading and lots of room for playing. Farther out the floating, diving platform invites the swimmers in your group. Canoes provided will help you explore the natural sanctuary nature reserve nearby and coves beyond.

Very close to Santa’s Village and the Scenic Muskoka Cruises, plus much more, McVittie Island Cottage will make a memorable holiday for everyone. It is an adventure waiting for you!
