Just minutes from Bala and Port Carling, the Muskokaview Cottage and guest cabin sit on a lakefront property which is well-treed for privacy.
The main cottage is fully equipped with 2 bedrooms (Queen and 2 twin beds), a Muskoka room with a double sofa bed, and a 3 piece bathroom with a tub) The open concept living room/dining room/kitchen area, with vaulted ceilings and flooded with light through the large windows, will be enjoyed by the whole family. There is plenty of seating on three comfortable couches in the living room area, and there is satellite television, a DVD and CD player. A stone fireplace (with an airtight insert) will take the chill off cool evenings. The dining table seats six. The kitchen is fully equipped and includes a dishwasher. A large bar with two stools separates the kitchen from the dining room.
The deck right across the front of the cottage is the perfect spot for dining, entertaining or simply relaxing and enjoying the lake views.
The guest cabin, located near the cottage, is completely self-contained. The living area of the cabin can seat five. The kitchen has a fridge, stove and dining table. One bedroom has a queen size bed, and the other has two single beds. There is a two-piece bathroom in the cottage. You will find the warm water outdoor shower to be both fun and convenient.
The waterfront is highlighted by the boathouse. The large deck overlooks Lake Muskoka. It has a BBQ, and ample furniture for gatherings. To the right of the boathouse dock, there is a small sandy beach area with shallow entry. Water, approximately 8ft. deep, can be found at the end of the dock, and there is a ladder on the dock for getting in and out of the water. A canoe is provided for those who wish to explore the bays and lake while getting some exercise. If you bring your own boat, it can be launched at Bala Park Island, about 1.5 miles away, or at Purk's in Bala.
In the summer, stroll the main street while enjoying an ice cream, or follow a Muskoka tradition, and buy scones and chelsea buns at Don's Bakery. The Moon River Lookout and Rebecca's are two great restaurants within a ten minute drive of the cottage. Explore the Bala Museum, which features Lucy Maud Montgomery (who vacationed in Bala in 1922), famous for the book, Anne of Green Gables. Bala is home to the annual Cranberry Festival in October, or take a free self-guided tour of the cranberry marsh anytime, year round. Dance the night away at The Kee to Bala, operating since 1942. For the sports enthusiast, there are area golf courses, fishing and waterskiing.
Gravenhurst, a short drive away, features the new wharf area, home to Grace and Speed, the antique and classic boat museum at the Muskoka Boat and Heritage Centre. The famous steamship "Segwun" (built in 1887) and its sister ship "Wenonah II" cruise Lake Muskoka from Gravenhurst Wharf during the summer. Other points of interest within easy driving distance include Santa's Village in Bracebridge, Pioneer Village in Port Carling, and Bethune House in Gravenhurst. Hardy Lake Provincial Park with its miles of walking trails is only a 15 minute drive away.
