Northern Call Cottage on Walker Lake is a charming 1,200 sq. ft., two bedroom, Lakeland Viceroy cottage that can accommodate the whole family. The wood accents throughout and the many windows bring in lots of natural light and give this cottage its warming character. The vaulted ceilings and open concept kitchen, dining room and sunken living room really open up the space making it one great gathering room.
The rustic kitchen with painted wood floors comes fully equipped with all the conveniences of home - fridge, stove, microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker, dishes and cutlery and even a separate pantry. The dining room is perfectly located across half of the front of the cottage offering large windows with great views out to the lake. A large table with seating for eight will be a great spot for any meal, after dinner drinks and games.
Off the kitchen and dining room, five steps down is the sunken living room. A wall of windows giving a wonderful source of natural light invites you into the room along with plenty of seating on either the sectional couch or the other couch (queen-size pull-out). The perfect spot to watch a movie, read a book, or cozy up around the wood-burning fireplace on a cool evening night. Just down the hall from the kitchen there are two carpeted bedrooms, each with sliding glass doors and its own private balcony. One bedroom has a queen size bed, double dresser and closet. The other bedroom has one set of single bunk beds and a double bed, plus a closet. A three-piece bathroom with a big soaker tub (no shower) is shared on the main floor. From the living room there is a set of sliding glass doors leading out to the 15’ x 12’ deck, which will be enjoyed by everyone seeking sun and shade. There is a table with an umbrella and 6 chairs plus 3 lounges. A propane barbeque is also provided.
There is plenty of land for all to explore and it is fairly level and mostly tree covered. There is a nicely marked and lighted path leading to the waterfront. Around the property you will find a small children’s picnic table, the fire pit area with seating benches. Around the cottage by the driveway, you will find a large sand area with volleyball net. At the edge of the lake there is more bench seating provided. A 12’ x 6’ dock has steps leading down into the shallow area of the water that has a solid rock bottom. The depth at the end of the dock is 6 feet. Make a shallow dive from here and swim out to the floating raft, complete with ladder, anchored out front. Large motor boats are not allowed on this lake which has a maximum speed limit of 8 kms. per hour. You may wish to venture out in the paddleboat, canoe or rowboat to do some fishing. There are small mouth bass, lake trout and rainbow trout in Walker Lake.
As no pets have been in the cottage for many years, this is a good location for people who have pet allergies.
Nearby Huntsville has plenty to offer for a day out, many golf courses are nearby, and the entrance to Algonquin Provincial Park is only about a twenty minute drive. Come and enjoy!
