Lake Muskoka is known for its clear, clean water, interesting shoreline and islands, and extensive boating opportunities. Heaven Sent Cottage adds to this a five-bedroom bungalow-style cottage on a large lot, wide deck facing the lake, huge screened Muskoka Room, boathouse with covered boat slip, shallow or deep water entry, hot tub on the deck, and close proximity to Bracebridge. One week’s stay won’t be enough time to enjoy all that this cottage has to offer!
The cottage is accessed through a good-sized mudroom that opens into the kitchen area of the great room with its vaulted ceiling. Recently renovated, the kitchen is fully equipped. Everything from a Cuisinart and slow cooker to fondue pot and cook books will assist the cooks. An island will ease food preparation, and there are three stools for casual snacking. The nearby dining table seats ten comfortably and has a great lake view.
The living area of the great room extends across the front of the cottage and has large windows that overlook the deck and face the lake. There is plentiful seating and a lovely stone fireplace for ambience. A reading nook in the corner of the living space holds comfortable chairs along with a television and DVD player.
A hall off the living area leads to four bedrooms. The master has a queen-sized bed and features an ensuite with shower. There is a door from the bedroom that leads out to the cottage deck for midnight stargazing.
Two other bedrooms have double beds while the fourth has two single beds. Each room has a window and a dresser. A four-piece bathroom in this area has a tub with shower.
Across the lake side of the cottage, the 90 by 20 foot deck, with its fabulous view, has patio furniture (table and six chairs) and features a four to six person hot tub.
The large screened Muskoka Room at the far end of the cottage provides a second choice for dining at a teak dining table with five chairs. A hutch here provides easy access to dishes and glasses, while the refrigerator and stereo complete the picture. Enjoy the cooling breezes with a roof overhead. The living area of the Muskoka Room is carpeted and has two coffee tables and seating for six. Running off the Muskoka Room is a small, summer bedroom with two single beds. A door leads off the Muskoka Room to access a small deck at the back of the cottage, with its barbeque and afternoon shade.
The 2.3 acre lot is quite level at the back of the cottage, while the lakeside of the cottage slopes gently down to the waterfront. A few, gentle steps lead past the flower gardens to the shallow area of the lake with its firm sand bottom. Younger children will enjoy this area for water play. Older children and adults have the option of diving from the dock at the far side of the boathouse. There is a choice of dock on either side of the boathouse, so you will be able to find sun or shade, and a large deck area near shore will become a favourite spot for relaxing. A canoe and some life jackets are provided, and the boat house has a slip for a motor boat if you bring one.
The town of Bracebridge is a five-minute drive from Heaven Sent Cottage. For a change of scene, the town provides a choice of restaurants, quaint shops, live theatre, Santa’s Village and a boat tour on the Lady Muskoka. Numerous golf courses are nearby. A motor boat day trip on Lake Muskoka may lead to the towns of Bala or Gravenhurst, the Muskoka Wharf with its dining, shopping and the Grace and Speed Museum, or up the Indian River to the locks that lead into Lake Rosseau. Come and explore!
