Listen to the lapping of the waves of the crystal clear water of Georgian Bay! Apple Blossom cottage is an immaculate two-bedroom cottage with a bunkie. The cottage sits on an attractive large, grassy lot, with perennial flower beds, and lots of room to run and play. The cottage is located an easy two-hour drive from Toronto, 8 kilometres north of the village of Meaford, on a private cottage road which is wonderful for family walks or an afternoon bike ride.
The cottage is flooded with natural light, and sliding glass doors and picture windows offer fabulous views of the water. The living room is furnished with a couch and two glider rocking chairs, television and DVD player. The kitchen is fully equipped, and has access to the deck through sliding glass doors. The dining table can comfortably seat six.
The two bedrooms each have a double bed and a three-piece bathroom is located close by. The bunkie has a double and single bed plus a two-piece bathroom, and will quickly become a favourite quiet spot. Again, the panoramic view of the water can be enjoyed through sliding glass doors or by sitting on the deck. An intercom connects the bunkie to the cottage.
Muskoka chairs and a picnic table beckon you to the deck to enjoy outdoor meals, relax with a good book, or watch the boats going by.
The swimming is excellent. There is a new set of wooden stairs with 7 steps which will permit easy access by walking onto the concrete walkway in front of the boat house. Proceed down the stairs to a large flat stone at the bottom and stepping directly into water with a hard sand bottom free of any rocks. Follow the sand out into the deeper water for some good swimming. A kayak is provided for you to explore the 30 miles of water in the bay too.
A fire pit on the shoreline break-wall is great for roasting marshmallows under a starry sky and against the backdrop of the twinkling lights of Meaford and Midland which can be seen in the distance.
The town of Meaford is just minutes away. There is a variety of shops and restaurants, performances at Meaford Arts and Cultural Centre, the Farmers Market, (June through to early October), a walking tour of Meaford's historic buildings, museum and several golf courses in the area. If you wish to go further afield, Collingwood, Blue Mountain area and Scenic Caves are worth exploring.
Come and enjoy this fabulous location on the shores of Georgian Bay!
