Located in the heart of Muskoka, this charming three bedroom, 1300 sq ft cottage sits on more than 500 ft of waterfront on lovely Wood Lake near Bracebridge. In addition to boasting a level, grassy entrance to the clean, clear water of this three kilometre-long lake, the property sits in a bay adjacent a large area of undisturbed nature that’s teeming with wildlife (in addition to ducks, the property’s regularly visited by deer, one of which was actually born here!).
Set back from the waterfront and offering endless views over the lake and the surrounding natural habitat, the cottage itself is a fully-renovated example of the traditional Muskoka family cottage, but with a classy decorator’s touch. Entering through the mudroom (also home to the cottage’s washer/dryer and an assortment of cookware) guests will find themselves in the well-appointed kitchen with its oak cupboards and tiled floor. Fans of the Keurig coffee systems will be pleased to know there’s one on hand, while cooks will be happy to use fresh herbs from the small herb garden at the front of the house. At meal time, up to six guests will enjoy sitting around the large hardwood dining table with its magnificent lake views.
There’s also plenty of indoor seating to relax on. In addition to the comfy cushioned wicker chairs and settee in the lounge area leading to the deck, the cottage boasts a sunken-living area that includes ample seating for those wanting to take in a movie or a show on the large-screen TV (satellite and wi-fi included). There’s also a good supply of fun board games, too, as well as a Nintendo video game system.
Also located on the main floor are a large, pleasantly decorated bedroom (sleeps two in a double bed) and a three-piece bathroom with shower and Jacuzzi tub. A further two bedrooms are located upstairs, each equipped with a queen bed (the cottage sleeps six guests altogether), and a two-piece bathroom. (Note: All beds are equipped with new posturepedic mattresses.)
When it comes to the great outdoors, guests are spoiled for places to relax and things to do. On the large, always sunny 16 x 16 ft deck overlooking the lake, guests can sit around a patio table under the cool shade of a large umbrella – it’s the perfect place to enjoy something tasty prepared on the BBQ located on the adjacent stone patio. The property also has a half-dozen traditional Muskoka chairs to relax on, as well as a unique swing made from an old tractor seat. A real treat down by the water is the fire pit – it’s the perfect place to trade some tales while toasting those s ‘mores, marshmallows or hotdogs come nightfall. A truly unique feature is the beautiful long wood benches handcrafted by the owner from a large fallen tree.
In addition to great swimming off the large 16 x 29 ft dock – the perfect place to sunbathe thanks to its day-round sunshine – the cottage includes plenty of shallow areas suitable for youngsters. Two kayaks and a paddleboat are also included for guest use, and those wanting to bring their own motorboat are welcome to dock it onsite. The lake’s also great for fishing, particularly walleye, bass and perch.
