Located on lovely Grandview Lake between the popular Muskoka villages of Baysville and Dorset, Grande Vista is the perfect location for families who enjoy the kind of relaxed and peaceful vacation experience only found on the region’s smaller lakes. Cute-as-a-button and recently renovated throughout, this lovely cottage has been in the same family for over 40 years, and is now available for the first time for other guests to enjoy. Comprising of 1200 square feet of living space situated on a long, level ½ acre lot that stretches down to a lovely shallow shoreline, Grande Vista boasts four bedrooms and a capacity to sleep nine guests.
Set back from the easy-to-access waterfront (the cottage is connected to the water by a pleasant stone pathway), this pleasantly decorated traditional cottage offers ample room to entertain and have fun. Its well-appointed kitchen with its brightly stained pine cabinetry and durable wood-patterned vinyl flooring is the perfect place to prepare those memorable cottage meals. In addition to its quality appliances (including a dishwasher), it also boasts a kettle and teapot (a must for tea drinkers!), a coffeemaker, a griddle for making perfect pancakes, as well as a new kitchen island with seating for four. Additional table seating up to eight guests is located in the adjoining Muskoka Room, and a large storage cupboard is located off the kitchen for all those cottage goodies.
Just steps away from the kitchen, the living room is a cozy place to relax after meals and enjoy a little satellite TV or a movie from the extensive DVD library (an MP3 player is also available for those wanting a little music). The living room offers comfortable seating for up to five guests.
Grande Vista’s four bedrooms offers two queens, two doubles and one single, sleeping nine guests (located on the main floor). The large master bedroom offers a queen bed, along with a TV and VCR / DVD player; while the second features a single bed plus a large games cupboard (youngsters will love the kids’ walkie-talkies!). Upstairs accommodations include a large bedroom with a queen and a double, as well as a bedroom with a double bed and a double fold-out futon.
Two bathrooms are also available. The first between the main floor bedrooms is a good-sized three-piece with a tub / shower. The second, two-piece, is located between the two bedrooms on the upper level.
Another nice living area is the large Muskoka room located on the lake-side of the cottage. Offering splendid views over Grandview Lake, it includes a pine dining table that easily seats eight, along with a comfortable lounge area for a further three guests. Stretching the width of the cottage, this 24 ft long room is the perfect place to hang out and play some of the multitude of board games provided, or to simply kick back and enjoy the tranquil views.
There’s no end of fun things to do outside, too. As its name suggests, Grande Vista’s 40ft of waterfront consist of a large sandy beach that’s perfect for kids of all ages. The water approach itself is sandy bottomed, making it easy to wade out to the deeper water beyond the 20 ft long dock for serious swimmers to enjoy. Located on a large, sweeping and peaceful bay, it’s also the perfect spot to enjoy the cottage’s water toys. These include a paddleboat, canoe and rowboat (the latter perfect for fishing), as well as two kayaks.
Sun worshippers won’t be disappointed, either. In addition to the many hours of sun available on the sandy shoreline, the long protruding dock enjoys sunshine all day long. It’s also the perfect place to catch a sunset, or to do a little stargazing using the telescope available in the cottage. Another fun place come nightfall is around the fire pit with its adult and kid-sized Muskoka chairs.
Other outdoor activities include a volleyball net (it also lowers to make a great badminton net), as well as a tetherball.
