With the falling snow comes endless opportunities for fun and adventure throughout cottage country. Snow sports are incredibly popular, and a great way to keep fit and active throughout the colder months. There’s nothing quite like sailing down the slopes on a crisp afternoon with the view of dusted evergreens and frozen lakes in front of you. Central Ontario has a variety of excellent ski hills fit for every level of experience, here are a few of our top picks…

Horseshoe Ski Resort boasts 28 downhill ski and snowboard runs with over 100 instructors available for lessons which are sure to improve your technique and increase your enjoyment! There’s also free wifi on the slopes – so you’ll never miss a selfie opportunity.

The cross country trails are excellent for skiing and snowshoeing, and after a long day out in the elements, treat yourself to an evening of luxury at AMBA spa or one of the onsite restaurants.

Hidden Valley Ski Resort in beautiful Muskoka is a great place to spend a while this winter. The slopes are excellent for beginners, instructors are available on site, and there’s a cozy canteen/cafe inside so that you can easily defrost after a long day.

Hidden Valley even offers a special discount rate for Thursday evening ski lift tickets – there’s nothing quite like skiing under the stars, is there?

Adanac Ski Hill in Sudbury is a great family attraction with plenty of beginner slopes, 240 vertical feet of skiable terrain, private group lessons, equipment rentals, a chair lift and a large chalet to warm up in – with a hot chocolate or coffee in your hand of course (my magic cure-all…coffee).

Sudbury is home to a lot of lovely undeveloped forest, with many lakes, restaurants, lookouts and other attractions to enjoy during your stay.

Mount St. Louis Moonstone is a constantly changing and improving ski area located in Coldwater, Ontario. Recently, $1.5 million was invested in the Ski Resort to ensure that they were offering “the best skiing and snowboarding in Ontario”.

The Ski Resort offers 36 runs of varying levels of difficulty with a total of 170 skiable acres. The facilities are fabulous, and the slopes will take your breath away.

Snow Valley Ski Resort is located just 5 minutes out of the city of Barrie and offers a variety of acitivities for all skiing and snowboarding levels.

The Ski Resort aims to ensure that their guests enjoy learning to ski / snowboard, and offer lessons throughout the season to help you get back into good form!

Snowshoeing and cross country skiing is also available. Check out the special group rates by heading to their website.
